In 2019, Tamara started her business to create a life of freedom—financial, emotional and even physical freedom. This year, she's doubling her reach with a new venture.
🚀 What made you decide to start your own business?
I wanted to create my own flexibility, have the freedom to be my own boss, and see the fruits of my labor. You get out what you put in. Once you have a taste of that, you will never go back to working for someone else.
☀️ What gets you excited to get out of bed in the morning?
The opportunity of meeting the “next person” who will impact my life or be impacted by me. It's not just in real estate, it’s across the board—my family, clients, friends.
🏆 What was the most challenging time(s) in your business and how did you overcome it?
The hardest thing for me is learning how to turn my brain off and stop working to enjoy the moment. As a real estate agent, while you're closing a deal, you’re constantly thinking how to close the next one to stay in business.
I recently formed this new partnership to help me with work life balance and take care of my mental health. (YAY for FLAMAZING partners!)
👭🏾 What advice would you give to a fellow black woman entrepreneur just starting out?
Don't doubt yourself. Develop enough confidence to believe in yourself and make it happen. But also realize you can't do it all by yourself. If you can, invest in a business coach and surround yourself with people who will support you.
💪🏾 What would you do if you weren't scared?
Sing on Broadway.
🤯 What would shock most people to learn about you?
I majored in Biology and studied microbiology and infectious diseases.
✨ What excites you the most about the future?
Growing my business, retiring young enough to travel the world, and having financial freedom.
💃🏾 What is your superpower?
My superpower is connecting people. I'm the ultimate broker lol.
🎧 📚 What book or podcast are you reading/listening to?
Real Estate Explained podcast hosted by The Address with myself and my business partner, Nick Bush (you’ll hear valuable info about real estate, wealth building, investing, and our lives).
